Somehow, almost without warning, the holiday season of 2023 has arrived! Just yesterday we walked into a local store where Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas décor fought for top billing and the realization that our busiest season of the year is about to happen almost made us want to head home, crawl into bed, and pull the covers over our heads! What stopped us though was thoughts of Halloweens we have celebrated in the past and the understanding that this special day is one with very little requirements from us. As a matter of fact, as we are living in a world of online schooling and remote work we are able to run away for the holiday and explore what other places offer, which is something more and more travelers across the world are doing! Trick/Trunk or Treating
Chances are the first words out of your little’s mouths when you first mentioned a Halloween journey to Holden Beach was all about the possibility of trick or treating! Fortunately, the holiday is a universally celebrated one and we are pleased to reassure you and your tiniest travelers that yes, there will be multiple opportunities to beg for sweet treats as you explore the fun of Halloween at the beach! A short drive of about 20 miles will allow your little ghouls to enjoy a trunk or treat event in nearby Ocean Isle Beach on October 27th at Town Center Park. Bring your sweetest baby ghost to the park with a bucket or bag and let them run wild close to mama in a safe and secure trick-or-treating environment. If you don’t want to drive, you can wait until Halloween for a trunk or treat closer to home, the Monster Mash Trunk or Treat event will be held on October 31st at the Holden Beach Pavilion starting at 6 pm and its costume contest will begin at 7 pm. Divided into age groups, there will be multiple chances for members in your family to win and yes, that includes the adults! (Or, of course, you can participate in both and double your candy haul!)
District 31 Haunted Trail, Every Friday & Saturday Night in October, 758 Longwood Road in Ocean Isle Beach
While not recommended for your youngest travelers, a good haunted house, or in this case, a haunted trail is one of the most bone-chilling ways to celebrate and Ocean Isle Beach offers the District 31 Haunted Trail for your spine-tingling pleasure! Offering frights that are appropriate for 10 and older, the trail features costumed actors, frightful props, and all the jump scares that make the holiday fun and exciting!
Oak Island Spooktacular Halloween, October 28, Middleton Park on Oak Island
A Halloween party is our favorite way of celebrating all Hallow’s Eve and the Oak Island Spooktacular Halloween is probably the best party in the area! THIS is the place to be on October 28th from 6 pm to 8 pm and because there is no entry fee, it’s a budget-friendly way to enjoy a whole lot of fun! Offering live music, Halloween-themed games, contests, and carnival booths that will make your littles wish the evening could go on forever. The best part is knowing that this Oak Island event will offer another chance to get your costume on and beg for candy, ensuring this will be the sweetest holiday ever! This event is great for travelers of all ages, providing Halloween scares that aren’t too scary at all!
