Holden Beach Turtle Talks, Wednesdays in July and August, 107 Rothschild Street
Sea turtles are sadly endangered, and it is our responsibility to do what we can to help with their continued existence, and the Holden Beach Turtle Talks are one way to learn how to do our part. Costing nothing (although donations are appreciated) the talks are fascinating and the movies they show offer an interesting depiction of the lives of these shy and sweet sea creatures, they also offer Children’s Turtle Time for kiddos from 3-6 years of age on select Wednesdays. The Turtle Talks start at 7 and Children’s Turtle Time begins at 4 pm. Turtle Patrol Tee Shirts can also be purchased during the talks.
Summer Concert Series, Sundays Through September 4, Holden Beach Pavilion
Summer and music go together like peanut butter and jelly and our summer concert series takes the music to the next level by adding sand and sea to the mix! The music starts at 6:30 and every Sunday features a new performer, giving your summer nights a glow you will never forget. The music is hot, the vibe is chill, and we dare you to find a better way to end a summer day than this! The sounds of the sea accompany the music perfectly and if you don’t find yourself singing and dancing along to the music, you may not be a music or beach person, but that’s ok. There are plenty of other events that will keep your interest during your summer escape to Holden Beach!
Southport Summer Market, Wednesdays Through August 30, 105 E West Street in Southport
Nearby Southport is home to the Southport Summer Market, offering a diverse selection of produce, food, and craft items that will make perfect gifts for yourself or others. Mature oak trees provide shade and Southern appeal and as you wander through the aisles examining fragrant bouquets of flowers, sweetly delicious baked goods, and a variety of other items, the peace you seek will be found!
The Market on Mulberry, Saturdays through July 26, Mulberry Street Park in Shallotte
You could probably spend an entire summer in the Holden Beach area traipsing from market to market, exploring fresh produce, handmade crafts, and delicious baked goods until you can’t fit anymore into your PROACTIVE Vacations summer escape, so this will be the last market we discuss, one with a name that could have come from a Dr. Seus title! Labor Day Weekend, September 2-4
Here’s the thing about Labor Day weekend. This celebration that honors all our hardworking Americans is, in its very essence, one where everyone should get to rest and relax. There are no Labor Day Parades and if any fireworks are seen, it will be unsanctioned shows that you may still enjoy, but are, totally not allowed!
With that being said, there will be some amazing sales in local shops ensuring you can purchase some great souvenirs.
